From the 2nd to 9th of August 2010, Volcoms skate team went on the road to the Marisquiño Contest in Galicia. The idea was to hit the road on monday to get to Vigo by the weekend, trying to skate every single spot on our way. Official tours members were Alain Goikoetxea, Roberto Alemañ, Mena, Dani López and David Sanchez, plus the Pardiñas brothers who were in charge of the lens. Mikel was the driver, Gonzalo the chef, and we had some special guest riders like Alain Saavedra and Gonzalo Jimenez appear too. Tons of stories for the books happened during the tour. We skated LIFE Santander indoor and ran a Sausage Fest in Aviles, a Burning of the Witch party at Mena´s house in Picos de Europa, sessions in Oviedo and Gijón, and finally ended up at the Marisquiño contest in Vigo. No one suffered from dehydration during on the tour due the millions of beers that were drunk in that week.
Thanks to everyone who helped us in our way and enjoy the video by Txomin Pardiñas. For the full report make sure you don't miss issue 81 of Dogway.
On wednesday August 4th, some pals met at La Magdalena Skatepark in Avilés for a Sausage Fest.
Lots of people from the area came to the event to hang out for a while. As this was a stop of a Volcom Skate Tour, we could enjoy watching the team skating.
Roberto Alemañ, Alain Goikoetxea, Mena, Dani López, David Sanchez and some special guests like Iñiguin, Saavedra, Osito, Cesar and some locals more. Good session and a great BBQ. Everyone ate what he wanted and at the end we gave away tons of goodies for the crowd.
Thanks to Emilio Arnanz, the Aviles council and the Magdalena Sports centre Crew. Ride on.
We organized a sausage fest down at la Friche, the new streetpark of
Marseille. The parks is situated between the train tracks an has a perfect
setup, you can't get bored of this one! We stayed 5 days more after to hit
the streets, but the weather wasn't on our side most of the time, we got
forced in to the futuristic halle de glisse for a day and where allowed to
shred the well hidden concrete palace
Definitely want to go back and explore Marseille a bit more in the nearby
The fifth annual Volcom Amsterdamn am just finished up here in sunny Amsterdam!
The finals went off without a hitch. It must have been extremely hard to judge as everyone was ripping. Tiago Lemos Soares from Brazil, who took the golden ticket yesterday, had some of the most insane tricks to be put in a contest run. Alec Majerus had a flawless first run where he was kickflipping into everything. Louie Lopez was very consistent and switched up every run with different tricks. After the dust had settled, Alec Majerus deservedly came out on top.
The best trick contest went down while Nihilist pumped everyone up at the top of the course. Bodies were flying and everyone was going for broke, trying to win some Euros. After Nihilist was done playing, the judges gave the Best Trick to Kieran Reilly for a Frontside Flip over the bump to bar to Front Lip on the bank.
Thanks to Skatepark Amsterdam, tackyworld for the live webcast and everyone at Volcom for making the contest happen, as well as Skatepark of Tampa for keeping us entertained on the mic.
