The Q Family connected with our local Whole Foods store(s) and attended their gingerbread house making event. For $20, we were given a pre-assembled gingerbread house, buttercream icing tubes, and assorted candy of those sold within WF Markets. The ingredients for the gingerbread house itself, as well as each of the candies given to us, are either all-organic or all-natural...but we took some Reese's mini-peanut butter cups as contraband. We also purchased an additional pre-assembled gingerbread house to decorate at home, and take to our family when we gather on Christmas.
The company that makes the gingerbread homes is located in Canada, and uses very little egg, and good portion of molasses to extend shelf-life. As for the one we decorated at WF, we didn't eat any of it until we got home and had lunch. By the end of the day, all the trimmings were gone, and the house looked like a category 5 storm had hit it, with 95% of the roof having been taken by the storm. Once day 3 rolled around, there was nothing left.
