  3. In the third episode of Building for the Future we investigate one of the first steps in preparing the WaterFire Arts Center for construction and renovation. Called selective demolition, it is the the process of cleaning and removing material from previous tenants and creating an empty space to build from. WaterFire would like to thank American Construction for speaking to us about the process, and to Corey Oberlander for speaking to the benefits that consolidating our work teams under one roof will have for WaterFire Providence. #BuildingfortheFuture

  4. One of the biggest structural changes that transform 475 Valley into The WaterFire Arts Center is the second story mezzanine which will house our offices. The steel beams that will support this new floor were fabricated by the tradesmen at Rhode Island Welding, who were kind enough to let us into their shops as they fabricated the beams and hangers that will support the news space. Follow the process of these major elements from drawings on paper into real structural members!

Big thanks to RI Welding for letting our videographer into their workshop to record this process!
