Wooden Dimensions

  1. “Brothers in arms” questions the role of the NATO, which is supposed to preserve the peace, but often creates conflicts in order to protect the interests of the “free” market, a concept invented to benefit multinationals.

This work combines the organic with the synthetic, pretty much as our lives today, a mix of online and offline existence. Over the years, our lives are more and more intertwined with the digital world.
I'm not asking myself if this is good or bad, it is simply a fact that we are influenced by it, whether we like it or not. Personally, I'm quite intrigued by computers and the internet and it has indeed a big influence on my way of living and working.
At the same time, I often have the feeling that we are playing with powers we do not fully understand.

The first Wooden Dimensions artwork with doors. I made this one in the attic with very primitive material. It took me 3 full weeks to produce his one, working on it nearly day and night. This work was a true milestone for me.
Sorry, if I appear to be in a bad mood in this video which is not the case. I had to look directly in the spotlights when turning towards the camcorder and it was blazing hot that day. :-)

About Wooden Dimensions:
The visitor (art exhibitions) is invited to open the doors by him/herself, so that the work can be viewed in its total form. In this way, the viewer is no longer a bystander who simply undergoes, or sees the artwork, he/she plays an active part in the creation process by the way a door is opened, closed or left ajar.
In short, the Wooden Dimensions project asks a certain engagement from the spectator, the willingness to discover the different faces of an artwork, to see every changed shadow or reflection of light (by changing the door positions) as another version of the same artwork. The viewer becomes a participating creator who can play with the doors and decide whenever he/she feels like it to present the artwork differently.

Format: 1280 x 720 mpeg4, max. 2500 bitrate/sec
