Hello and welcome to my work! I'm Cherry Kino (Martha Jurksaitis, London, 1981), an all-analogue artist filmmaker and photographer whose early years were spent looking through kaleidoscopes, exploring gardens, and watching films! I work with Super 8 and 16mm film, and a wide variety of analogue photographic formats, and I process it all by hand using alchemical techniques in the dark room. I've lived in England, Germany, Australia and Iceland, and now live in a tiny wooden hut called Maya in an olive grove in rural Portugal.
I've been lucky enough to work with some really excellent musicians on collaborative projects, including Kathy Alberici (of Drum Eyes), João Simões (Futuristic Waves), Juvenile Juvenile (Japan), Just Handshakes (UK), C.A.R. music (Canada), and The Go! Team (UK). In 2013 I won a commission with Kathy to create and perform a live triple film projection and audio piece for the presitigious CTM Festival in Berlin. I've had the honour of presenting my films at many great festivals, including Alchemy, Leeds, and Edinburgh Film Festivals, and have had my films included in extensive North American and European tours.
