A short video impression of the dog sled racing event that takes place each winter on the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The "Copper Dog 150" starts in the early evening in the town of Calumet and ends the following afternoon in Copper Harbor, with an overnight stop in the town of Eagle Harbor.
Semi-pro mushers race along regional participants race through the forests of the Keweenaw as the community rallies to put on the event.
The piano track on this video was recorded in the amazing Michigan House Cafe and Red Jacket Brewery, where people descend after the dogs are launched. Flags and fireworks complete the scene as the punctuate the night. The infamous mural above the bar of gnomes brewing, dancing and drinking lend to the atmosphere by calling upon all the good times that have been had in the past, the present, and the future.
