City Slang is a record label founded in 1990 in Berlin, Germany by former tour manager Christof Ellinghaus. The first City Slang artists counted among their numbers Lemonheads, Flaming Lips or Yo La Tengo.
In the years that followed the label maintained a reputation for a great roster of artists and become a European home for seminal and genre-defining bands like Hole, Sebadoh, Tortoise or Built To Spill.
Today City Slang is a constant in the European independent
scene and continues to work with bands like Calexico, Lambchop, Notwist, and Arcade Fire.
