Daniel Etherington has had (to date), a 20 year career in post production, specialising in advertising and the demanding world of fast turnaround retail work. He has a loyal client following, nurtured over several years and has a high level of trust and respect deeming him one of the 'safest pair of hands' in the industry. His strengths lie in the relationships he builds with agencies and he keeps these communications flowing.
More recently however he has become more involved in the business management side of the industry by becoming a board director at his current company at Golden Square.
He has held this post for 3.5 years.

Career history.

May 2010 - present.
Promoted to board of Golden Square.

Nov 2006 - present
Senior Smoke Op at Golden Square working on a strong list of retail accounts. Sky, Diet Coke, News Int, Asda, B&Q, Citroen & Daily Mail.

Feb 2003 - Nov 2006
Smoke Op at The Moving Picture Company. Solely looking after a retail account for over 12 years, through 3 Agencies.

Oct 1999 - Feb 2003
Online editor using Quantel Henry Infinity at MPC. Exposed to all the main agencies and some are friends still to this day. My industry peers grew with me to our now more senior roles.

Oct 1997 - Oct 1999
2D VFX assistant in a team of 4 (MPC), servicing 9 Autodesk/ Quantel suites 24 hours a day, at least 5 days a week. I put the hours in and feel I got my just desserts!

July 1997 - Oct 1997
Tape Op at The Machine Room. Primary dubbing duties using varied formats including D1, D2 and D5 and standards conversions using The Alchemist.

Feb 1997 - July 1997
A sabbatical travelling back through Asia.

Apr 1996 - Feb 1997
Promo editor for UKTV at Foxtel in Sydney, NSW Australia. Working in linear (Sony controlled digis) and non-linear (Avid) suites.

Oct 1995 - Apr 1996
Junior editor (MPC) in the linear suites, aswell as non linear Avid editing. Some of the kit used included Sony 9100 edit controller, Abacus A84 vision mixer, A64 disc recorder, A57 picture mover.

Apr 1992 - Oct 1995
VT assistant (MPC) servicing the online linear edit suites. This involved using Character generators the Aston Motif, Aston 4 and A72. Formats used 1", D1, D2, BetaSP, Digibeta, Hi-Band Umatic, 1/4" audio & DAT.
We also shot artwork using a programmable rostrum camera. Ken Morse had this sewn up though!

Oct 1991 - Apr 1992
Runner at The Moving Picture Company including shoots aswell as post production duties.

May 1991 - Sept 1991
Stage Manager for a fringe theatre production. Began in a west London venue, then I travelled with the show across Canada at their fringe festival.

Oct 1990 - May 1991
Stage hand at local theatres aswell as signing up to an extras casting agency. On and off work for both jobs in this time.
