DJ QUE started djing at the age of 17, it all began at a family party, he got on the decks to play and that’s when he discovered he had the talent to entertain. By the end of the night family and friends where complimenting him and letting him know he should take being a DJ very seriously.
From then on, DJ Que, practiced for over 2 hours a day, every day to perfect his skills in order to earn his place and have his name written in the lights. Music was everything to him. DJ Que is often known to say “Music is the air that I breath.”
The journey to perfection
When DJ Que originally started learning the Disc Jokey technique he used technics 1200 but soon the times changed and he decided to switch to cd's to keep up with technology. He now uses scratch live software (Serato) with a Macbook pro.
Just like many other DJ’s, Que was a bedroom DJ when he started. In 2006 he was called to his London debut gig in a bar, for Que this was a different experience because this time, instead of the four closing walls, his headphones and simulated crowd in his room, he had a real crowd that he needed to play for. He was going to have to cater to everybody's needs and musical taste.
DJ Que went on to play at small parties and weddings after being recommended by people that had him play. This is when he decide to give himself the stage name DJ QUE. The thinking behind the name came from the very concept of DJing - in order to DJ you need to always be ready ( on Cue, with your next track). Instead of Cue, he went with Q.U.E which for him meant ensuring he provided Quality Unique Entertainment.
….and the rest is history
Que continued on his quest of skill perfection and later joined a group called Black Knights that held gigs across London club Moonlighting a well known venue in the heart of the west end. Que left Black Knights in 2009 after establishing himself and joined London’s famous and hottest Afro Westen fusion Club night BANTU as the resident and headline DJ. To date he is still with BANTU, previously held on first Friday’s, today on first Saturday’s.
