Dub Proof is a philosophy on music, life, and the combination of both. the band believes that music is a philosophy and a feeling, not a style or categorization. Dub Proof's philosophy is deep, earthy, relaxed, thought provoking, luminous, and classy... only to be lost in the groove will you find what you're looking for... everything resonates and you can feel it in your soul, music comes from that place.
If you took the conscience of Bob Marley, the funk of George Clinton, the boom-bap of classic hip-hop, and the abstract delays and reverbs of 70's dub reggae you'd have the recipe for Dub Proof's songs. While occasionally venturing into more psychedelic and jazzy territory the band has always emphasized paring rhythms down to their essence rather than long individual solos or highly technical passages.
The "Dub" in Dub Proof was taken from the band's love of dub reggae music and the "Proof" was taken from a bottle of Jameson's whiskey which happened to be going around while potential band names were being thrown around. Needless to say the name stuck, although the other details of the night remain foggy.
The band has beaten a path from the eerie shadows of Asbury Park to the jaded facade of Brooklyn hipsters and prevailed simply by being true to itself. By not being imitators the band has been able to connect with different people of all walks of life and their fanbase continues to grow with each show.
The band continues to write songs and hone their constantly evolving sound while playing shows up and down the East Coast. You can keep up with Dub Proof on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Jambase, Reverbnation, and Youtube.
