Eileen C Hsu was born and raised in Taiwan. She moved to California with her family when she was fifteen. While finding her interest in visual storytelling at a young age, she started to explore graphic design and other media of arts. With her personal experience, she is always interested in themes of self-identity and lives as Chinese immigrant families in the USA. After working as a motion graphic designer for several years, she decided to return to school to pursue filmmaking. Currently studying under the MFA Film-Directing Program in California Institute of the Arts, she hopes to expose herself to all the different possibilities, to write and work on the films that are close to herself, and speak to the audience.
