I am an archaeologist and graduate student at the City University of New York (CUNY) - Graduate Center. In particular I'm a zooarchaeologist, an archaeologist that studies animal bones, and my research focuses on early commercial fishing in Iceland. Presently, I work at a site called Gufuskálar in the western part of Iceland.

The site has been inhabited since the Viking Age and during the Medieval Era there was clearly an explosion of commercial fishing activity at the site. My research interest is in how this proto-industrial level of fishing compares with the commercial fishing of the Northwest of Iceland. I'm also very interested in the origins and development of this fish-trade as well as the social and economic effects that this trade had on the Icelanders of Snæfellsnes peninsula.
