Folk to Folk is an evolving, on-going project working to create a multimedia documentation of the patchwork landscape of the folk scenes across America today. Through a combination of words, photography, audio recording, video, and online media, we intend to bring a sense of these communities to a wider audience. We want to explore what folk means to those who keep it alive and change it to fit their own personal and communal definitions. Beginning in the music communities we’ve come to know around Boston throughout our time as undergraduates at Boston University, we’ll then expand throughout New England. We plan to eventually traverse the country to seek out folk musicians who represent particular geographic or conceptual communities and collaborate with them to share narratives and relationships within folk music. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with thoughts, ideas or recommendations on this project as we work to get it off the ground, and check back often!
