Is there a 1K +/- video camera on the market that is appreciably better than my 5 year old Sony HDR-CX110? I've read about the Canon HF G20. Would the video quality be noticeably better once it gets dropped through iMovie (I usually export as a 'Large' 960x540 file to keep my ice hockey game videos to about 1.5GB.)

Thanks for any feedback!

The HF G20 has been superseded by the HF G30, the 30 has a lot of stuff the 20 didn't. I have the 30 and am well pleased with it.
I have a short test piece here: vimeo.com/73850882

Thanks, Dave. Videos look great.

I'm trying to understand what makes a $1500 HD camera better than a $500 HD camera. Isn't HD, HD?

" Isn't HD, HD?" Only in specification!
The word is quality. Better lens, better sensor, better processor, better codec(s), better microphones, better controls, the list goes on. You get what you pay for.
