I'm shooting a video version of a live show which features musicians performing in front of a video backdrop of moving imagery. I'm thinking we should green screen the talent and key the imagery in post. This would make it easier to sync the imagery between shots and eliminate the need to color-correct the video projection, but it introduces the problem of matching the background to the camera angle, which gets tricky as soon as we introduce any camera movement. The imagery has no specific spatial relationship to the performers other than the background (no 3D), but do we still need to use expensive match move software or is there another way to accomplish this?
