Richard Lutz Plus 5 years ago Hello Vimeo friends. I graduated from college about a year a half ago and after a failed attempt at making it in LA I came back home where I've had time to do some thinking and reflecting on what I want to do in my career. I've come to the realization that I want to direct commercials. I'm open to directing any thing from a small regional ad to ads that are going to bee seen on a national and international level. I also want to work with great brand who understand what they are trying to say to an audience. I'm curious how I would get to this. I've spoken to a few creatives in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest about this subject and I seem to get the same response. Just keep shooting and making mistakes. I know that this is true, but I'm wondering if you could enlighten me on the process. I know that the ad agencies control who works on what. I'm curious how many of you have dealt with that while moving up the ladder. One quick note: I'm about to start school at the VCU Brandcenter for art direction and advertising. I'm curious if you guys have any advice on how I would use my education and skill set and ultimately leverage it to get where I want to be in the future. I'm looking forward to hearing your guys thoughts. Thanks!
