I don't understand how sometimes, pornographic material stays on the vimeo 'discover' feed for that long. When browsing vimeo, looking for good content, the last thing i want is dirty pictures popping up on my screen.

In my opinion, the current admins should really need to work on finding a few more vimeo users that can contribute to taking inappropriate material off the vimeo discover feed. I understand that you can't just give admin rights to any person, but hey, there are plenty of trustworthy vimeo-users that could help. I'm not talking about giving out rights to ban accounts or delete videos here. I'm just talking about blocking content from reaching the discover feed of the everyday vimeo user.

Also, i understand that blocking content is a risky thing to do, but i think that there are plenty of people that have enough common sense to filter artistic nudity from actual porn.

The rating system sounds like a great plan, but isn't really the solution I was hoping for.
I'm ok with mature content to some degree, artistic nudity is no problem for me, so i would have no need to filter that out. My problem (and the problem of many other vimeo users, looking at this forum) is the visibility of "dirty" pornographic material.

If you would open the vimeo discover homepage now, you will find a video by the user 'pink' of a asian women being forced to preform sexual actions (taking off clothes, masturbation, ...). The video has been on the homepage for at least half an hour as i am writing this.

That's unacceptable, don't you agree?

We've recently made some major improvements to the Discover tab to help better filter the videos that populate into it. We also keep a close eye on it to make sure things like this don't happen. When the Mature Content Filter goes into effect within our search system, it will also help filter this tab.

However it's not possible for us to vet everything that appears here. Users always have the ability to flag videos to our attention, and more often than not Staff members will take actions on these videos when the crop up.

To answer your question, we probably will not give users the ability to hide or remove videos from this tab, but will continue to improve filtering it.

I think it is a bad idea to start giving special RIGHTS to viewers to get rid of material. Long ago when Microsoft had a social media site (closed down now) the "administrators" of that site were able to delegate responsibilities and some times it was a disaster, because these started to harass commenters and erase on any whim their posts.

I wouldn't put so much power unto unaccountable, anonimous people.

At the core of your statement (not letting others moderate content), we agree. Vimeo staff moderates content. Users have the ability to Flag content to our attention, but it does not take action on those clips automatically. We review flags and remove videos that violate our Guidelines.
