Hi Guys!

I got myself a brand new Motorola Moto G handphone as an Android test device as it runs Kit Kat and wanted to just try viewing a Vimeo video I embeded into my website. I have attached the relevant URL. Unfortunately I can't play the video. I see the poster image or thumbnail when the webpage is loaded. But when I click on the play arrow... Get the message - This video can't be played with your current setup.

I can play the video fine in my website whilst using my Mavericks Mac Book Air with Firefox, Safari & Chrome.

Trying it out on my Nokia 1520 Windows phone shows the video plays fine too.

I just downloaded your Vimeo app from the Google play store on my Motorola handphone and using this app the video does play fine in my Motorola Moto G handphone!

But when using the Chrome browser I get the message as indicated before. This is my first and only Android device and am concerned as I don't know on how many Android devices this error might appear on.

Any suggestions ?

By the way, have you tried watching videos using a browser other than Chrome?

Hey there, looking at your site on a closely related Moto X handset, also running Kit Kat, and had no trouble playing back the embedded video with Chrome. Looking at the embed code on your site and the video file on Vimeo, I don't see any reason why this video file wouldn't play on any device.

In Chrome's menu, do you have 'Request Desktop site' enabled? This can cause the error message you're seeing on mobile.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the reply!

Hi Meghan. No I haven't tried another browser. What is a browser that you suggest I use / try? I'm new to Android :)

Hi Tommy. As an update into my experiments... what I have found is that if my phone is connected to a wifi network such as at a Starbucks, the video does play fine.

But, if I turn wifi off and use my data plan via my celular network, then the video wont play. Now if I try and watch a youtube video via my celular network, that will play.

Now another interesting To thing is... if I start the video playing via wifi, then pause the video, then turn wfi off, then connect to my celular networks dataplan and then restart the video, then it will play!

Never noticed that desktop setting before. But it is unchecked so I don't think this is it.

Anyways, Im happy to try a different browser if you can suggest one!

Cheers

If you download Firefox for Android or the Chrome Beta, do you have the same issue?

Also, what cellular provider do you have and what country are you in?
