As far as I can tell, it is not possible to Pin our videos to Pinterest. Youtube.com allows their videos to be pinned. It is a great marketing tool for consumer photographers/film makers.

Aaron Morrell

I agree with Two Bird studios. Pinning to Pinterest is a great way to get noticed. If YouTube can do it I KNOW VIMEO CAN!
As far as I know the only way to do it is in Couch mode, and that won't work on embedded video from, say, my on web site. So kinda need that as an option.

Hope you guys will consider it.

PLEASE add this feature. It's only the fastest growing social media sharing site in the country with the perfect target for wedding videographers!

Intereting, as Pinterest is driving more traffic to some sites that any property other than Facebook and Tumblr. When something is that popular and your useras are asking for it, one would think it'd quickly get interesting to you. Glad that customer asks are a high priority for YouTube... works great there.

Agree. You have to evolve or die. Look what happened to software like Quark. The "not a high priority" response is really lame.

Wow, this is one of the most short sighted comments I have seen in a long time. Especially considering that Pinterest is growing at unprecedented rates.

"According to Shareaholic’s findings (based on aggregated data from more than 200,000 publishers that reach more than 260 million unique monthly visitors each month) they have discovered that Pinterest drives more referral traffic than Google Plus, LinkedIn and YouTube combined." from socialfresh.com/pinterest-referral-traffic/

Sorry you feel that way but I'm sure you will understand that we have limited resources. Like I've said above, we will keep this suggestion in mind when we iterate on the share functionality in the future.

Jeff Henshaw

Jeff Henshaw

Having limited resources is totally OK and part of every company's reality.

Being dismissive with one's community needn't be.

As a community member, I have limited time and resources, too: I can only post a video once, and the ability to pin dictates where I'll make that one post. Thanks for keeping this in mind for the future, but every second that you delay is hundreds of videos pinned from YouTube to Pinterest.

This was not a cool answer. I really hope that Vimeo retrains Soxiam, as this is a very poor way to deal with one's customers. Jeff is right on point.

Yes please. this would be helpful. People will migrate and share through as many outlets as possible in which they feel they have a forum to express. Pinterest has clearly proven itself to be the fastest growing forum to do so (10mm users in 1 year) and lends itself perfectly to Vimeo and it's enthusiasts, like ourselves. Cancel out the immediate thought of "I wonder if i can find this on youTube" when users find something they want to share/Pin. Let us share the wealth and beauty.

Come on Vimeo, I loved you 'till summer of last year, but you've only given me reasons to go with other services since then... You need to find ways to adapt more efficiently and not have so many issues... interface overhaul, while it looks nice, was never on my list of things I wanted in 2012.

Don't fall behind on this: As reported in Tech Crunch, 10 million unique users in the US are using it monthly and it has grown faster than any standalone site in history.

I totally love Vimeo and I've just started flirting with Pinterest. Unfortunately at the moment it seem they hate each other for some reason. :(

Oh well it seem I've just found a workaround...just switch to couch mode (left click the video) and Pinterest will love it :)

+1 on this functionality being needed now.

Seriously, vimeo, "new vimeo" was a priority, but this isn't? If so, you *really* don't understand your audience. New vimeo makes *zero* difference to how well we can promote our businesses. Being able to let users pin our videos: very important.

Definitely need to add this ASAP. I'm about to upload all my vids to Youtube so that I don't miss this massive traffic wave to Pinterest.

Plus, there's so many other awesome Vimeo based videos I'd love to post to an inspiration board.

Love this comment. Who is important here? Vimeo is my favorite website on the whole darn internet. We deserve a better response than that.

Yep +1

If you want to stay on the cutting edge you have to allow us to funnel viewers to vimeo using the tools that are "current" don't go all myspace on us.

Would be nice to be able to Pin it from a blog post rather than having to go through couch mode. The difference is that all of the Vimeo pins say, "From Vimeo.com" rather than from our own websites. I'd rather the videos coming from my pages be linked as such.

Ditto the comments above. I pay for Vimeo Plus so I can have detailed analytics for my videos. It's unfortunate that it makes more marketing & visibility sense to migrate my videos over to YouTube so I an integrate my video work with the fastest rising social media platform... that Vimeo does not consider a high priority. This may very well impact my decision to remain with Vimeo as a paid subscriber.

I think it's actually more up to Pinterest than Vimeo to add this functionality.

Hope both Pinterest and Vimeo look into it and sort it out for us soon.
With this feature (lightbox popup vimeo videos in Pinterest, as per youtube vids), it would be fantastic and get a lot of people in video & motion graphics communities using it and marketing & socialising in a new way.

I know the vimeo pinterest has vimeo videos on their boards. How do they do that?

Analise Marcus

I just figured out how to pin Vimeo videos to Pinterest:
1. use the pinmarklet to select one of the images from the Photos section under the video. (Originally I had done this to at least get traffic to the video even if the video itself wouldn't play in Pinterest.)
2. Create the pin and write out the description of the video.
When I went to Pinterest to check that the image would link back to the video on Vimeo, I happily discovered that the pin I created used the image as the video thumbnail but played the entire video! I've tried it with two different Vimeo videos and it's worked as long as I've gone directly through Vimeo (haven't yet figured out how to pin a Vimeo video if it is embedded on in a blog or other website).

This is for anyone who can't wait the extra couple weeks for Pinterest to implement its expanded video pinning features.

Follow-up to Analise's comment

I've noticed that some Vimeo videos can be pinned to pinterest while others can't

And I did a bit of trouble shooting and figured out that if a video has photos attached to the video, it can be embeded on pinterest in a playable format.
But if a video doesn't have a picture in its description, pinterest can't recognize the video.

It's a little strange, but as long as the video has images in the description it can be added to pinterest

Okay guys, this is getting heated so I'll be as transparent as I possibly can:

PINTEREST does not support Vimeo (not the other way around): support.pinterest.com/entries/21033366-how-do-i-pin-a-video

I sent them a help request nearly a month ago to see what we can do to help them support us and have yet to hear back from them. Trust me, we'd love to have this too, but our hands are tied until Pinterest wants to support pinning our videos.

We can make it so you can pin the link to the video page, would that be an acceptable alternative in the mean time?
