Canon Vixia HF G10

This is a quick test I performed to see if I could get more detail and dynamic range out of the G10 by switching to Cinema mode and using flat settings. These settings were recommended by Patrick Zadrobilek who appears quite knowledgeable on the subject of color correcting:

"Cinema Standard"
Color Depth = -2
Softening Filter = Off
Contrast = 0
Key (Brightness) = depends on light situation

The results weren't too dramatic with the green leaves shot. The highlights clipped in both settings. I do notice a lot more detail in the yellow flower shot. The preview looks even better in Vegas. So it appears I'm losing some information in the render.

Note: I also increased saturation.
