Ani Di Franco, singer songwriter visits Occupy LSX.
In 1989, singer and songwriter Ani DiFranco started her own record company called Righteous Records, which was renamed Righteous Babe Records in 1994. DiFranco began her recording career by attempting to sell 500 cassettes at her shows, eventually gaining the status she has today. Righteous Babe is home to all of her 19 official albums, selling over 4 million copies total. She has collaborated with artists such as Prince, Cyndi Lauper and the Twilight Singers and has encouraged musicians to revolutionize the principles of the recording industry. DiFranco has been nominated four consecutive times for Best Recording Package at the Grammy Awards, winning one in 2004. Her work has also placed her on CMJ’s list of the 25 most influential artists in the past 25 years.
