For basketball teams at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), the non-conference schedule means long road trips to play in ‘guarantee games’. Host schools from well-funded power conferences pay HBCUs such as Savannah State large sums – a guarantee - to play in these games. That money in turns funds the athletic budgets at cash-strapped HBCUs.
This mini-documentary shows what life is like on the road for one such team as they battle an opponent with superior size, talent and funding.
