Toronto's major landmark, the CN Tower, seems to have infected art and architecture in its surrounding urban environment. The video portrays an installation at the Canoe Landing Park near Fort York and Bathhurst Street. Some say the objects are fishing bobbers. I thought so at first myself, when I realized that they are interpretations of the CN Tower. The same is true for all the glass condo towers in the vicinity, Toronto's most recent landmarks. There are other than artistic reasons for their height and proliferation, but I can't help thinking that perhaps unconsciously the model for these monsters is the tall Tower itself.
