12 years ago Ashley Robinson had a bet with his mate, Bill Hoffman. They swam around Mudjimba Island ('Old Woman Island') and to Mooloolaba and in doing so started an annual tradition.
The 11km Mudjimba Island Charity Swim has raised over 1 million dollars for the Nambour and Currimundi Special Schools.
Ashley has swum every year and his support paddler, John Stokes, has done it with him for 10 of those 12 years, including this year's swim after a battle with cancer.
