Have you ever wondered how to become a landscape artist like the great Turner?
The Mildura Arts Centre Gallery has their first artist in residence. Jeff Woodger, is the real deal he has dedicated his life to honing his skills painting landscapes in the classical style just like the nineteenth century greats.
Jeff’s been on a bit of a journey, spanning almost thirty years, gaining a bachelor degree in fine arts in the 1980’s that provided some basic competency in neo expressionist art, leading to a role at the Bendigo Art Gallery where his worked handling nineteenth century paintings. This work sparked his curiosity to learn how the masters created these classical landscapes. From here he completed his Masters Degree where his thesis discussed nineteenth century landscape painting and its presentation, studying the works of the French Barbizon School. This short video blog is part one of the creation of this painting.
