In May 2007, Alex, Maneesh and I set out on a tour of Yorubaland. We visited Abeokuta, the ruins of old Oyo, Ilorin, Esie, Iragbiji (for the Egungun festival) and Osogbo. The highlight of the trip was spending time at the Sacred Forest (the Osun Grove), silently watching the monkeys on the other side of the Osun river, and then meeting Susanne Wenger later that day in town. Wenger (who died in January 2009) had lived in Osogbo for over 50 years. Her journey into the core of the Yoruba spirit-world and her work preserving the Sacred Forest (now a Unesco World Heritage Site) mean she is highly revered in the town and more generally among the Yoruba.
This is (I think) the last recorded interview with her on film.
