This Artachat is led by Scottish Curator and Art Director, Claudia Zeiske. Zeiske is an avid fundraiser, walker and Director of Socially engaged art centre, Deveron Arts. (deveronarts.com).
Founded fifteen years ago, Deveron Arts uses the small rural village of Huntly as it’s exhibition space with the tagline: “The Town is the Venue”. Artists produce exhibitions, installations and performances in shops, bars, parks - even greenhouses. Deveron Arts works both locally and globally inviting artists from across the world (a particular focus is currently on African and Asian artists) to engage with the community, ethos and atmosphere of Huntly.
Zeiske’s passion for walking has resulted in the formation of “The Walking Institute” an exploration and investigation into the many facets and aspects of art and walking. (See walkingand.org for a starting point). Zeiske’s Artachat will consist of a presentation and ‘Walking Action’; exploring the possibility of “Kampala as the Venue” for new and experimental forms of Public Art.
Proclaimed Ugandan artist, Sanaa Gateja, will chair this session and help guide the audience through the extensive projects of Zeiske, Deveron Arts and the Walking Institute.
