Yesterday I got the new JVC GY-HM100E 3CCD Camcorder, one of the first available examples in Europe. I started with some little test shots and thought you might be interested in seeing the result. The camera records in Qucktime .mov files in full HD 1920 x 1080 px resolution on high speed class 6 SD cards with a total possible recording length of 50 min for a 16 GB SD card in highest resolution. There are two slots, so you have a total recording time of 100 min and if the SD cards increase their capacity, it will even be more in the future. And the good thing: you just drag and drop the files on your hard disk and you can immediately start editing it in FCP. My first impression: a very small, light and handsome camcorder with all necessary features including XLR audio inputs! Check the originally uploaded m4v file for best result.

UPDATE (June 1, 2009): After working a little bit with the camera I found out that the manual Zoom doesn't work properly when you are shooting. And the 1080/25P mode is only available in the MPEG4 recording mode. Check out my second film on the 24h Race in Basel, shot in 1080i mode (would have been better in 720/50P mode and higher shutter speed because of the fast movemenents of the runners). As of now I would suggest to use 1080/25P for more quiet scenes and 720/50P for quicker movements.
