The Missouri School of Journalism granted me permission to conduct a research project (6 months) within my studies as a senior Broadcast Journalism student at the University of Missouri. This is what I found.
Everyday, hundreds of students from the Missouri School of Journalism report to KOMU 8, a full-powered NBC affiliate in Columbia, Mo. It is the only university-owned commercial television station in the United States. At KOMU 8, each student is held to a professional standard unlike any other. The consequences of their decisions are real and without prejudice to age or grade. This film is a timestamp compression of more than 60 hours of footage (400 hours of editing) shot behind-the-scenes of KOMU 8 since August 2013. The KOMU Experience explores elements of reputation, humor and criticism while characterizing certain types of people produced by their own KOMU 8 experiences.
