La Topologie des 9 Cercles is a non-narrative and contemporary vision of the timeless Dante's Inferno. A three-headed audiovisual project designed by Isabel Pérez Del Pulgar, Roland Quelven and Rey Eisen. Echoing the nine circles of Dante's Inferno, 9 videos were made initially: five by Isabel Pérez del Pulgar and four by Roland Quelven . Rey Eisen wrote a musical piece in 9 movements for the ensemble. These videos are called the 9 «Circles-Segments». These «9 Circles-Segments» are independent, non-narrative and various by textures, compositions and tones. However, they contain many common elements, they are not completely disjoint. Besides the «9 Circles-Segments» aren't a literal adaptation of the nine circles of Dante's Inferno rather a resonant echo in the contemporary world , they do not automatically result of the text: each «Circle-Segment» do not correspond to a specific circle of Dante's work. References to writing in the book are still pervasive in many segments: images include some calligraphies, ideograms whose visual appearances are detached from any meaningful value, parts are integrated into a vast palimpsest. Within five odd segments directed by Isabel Pérez del Pulgar, the image of a woman appears on a recurring basis, a contemporary heir to her male counterparts who borrowed the mythological way of the abyss, a soul in transit into the Circles. In the four segments realized by Roland Quelven, woman's imagery is more abstract, more fragmented, as a polymorphic creature living into Circles, a contemporary Erinye.
