For the ninth week of my video project I decided it was time to finally get round to trying out something I had been meaning to do for ages, timelapses of people working. Over the course of the weekend I found myself doing two things in abundance, cooking and gardening. As such the first two timelapses are from a meal I cooked on the first night, the next three are taken from my girlfriend's dad's garden where he and I spent the afternoon cutting back trees and the last is a meal I made that evening. The last is notable because it covers the entire process of cooking the meal as demonstrated by the clock on the wall. The music is probably a little dramatic for such ordinary tasks but I quite enjoyed the juxtaposition.

For the camera geeks among you it's worth pointing out that the third and last timelapses were created using series of photos whilst all the rest were shot as standard videos that I sped up in post. The photo timelapses definitely worked better, particularly the last one so in the future I imagine I'll just stick to that.

I'm excited by the possibilities of what you can do with timelapses so I intend to make this just the first part of a whole series of them that I'll shoot throughout the year as part of my video project.

I shot this on a Canon 7D with my Sigma F1.8 24mm, Canon F1.4 50mm and Canon F3.5-5.6 EF-S 18-135mm lenses.

The music track is entitled "Trailblazer" and is licensed from Audio Network.
