I've always wanted to be able to connect offline and online world. This prototype connects to social networks or anything that lives online and is able to trigger remote plugs wirelessly.

This was a test using Twitter, #AMD hashtag and some lamps from the office. But really it could be anything that plugs to the main and can be turned on and off just with switching the main plug on and off.

The Arduino sends a request to a server that will make a request to the Twitter API, if there’re tweets with a parricular hastag, the arduino will trigger, via a transmitter ,wireless remote plugs with lamps plugged into it. I first had it working with just the Arduino making request to the twitter API, that was simpler but since the new version 1.1, which requires https request, the Arduino cannot do it on it’s own.
