DIY DOF Adapters

HIIMORI - wind horses, is a little documentary I've been working on about one week spent in Mongolia on summer 2010, during my last vacation, living with a nomadic family who are horse breeders in a beautiful green valley called Khadangol near Kujirt.

HIIMORI is a mongolian word which stands for wind horses, a representation of the individual psychic energy in a shape of a winged horse which can also be seen on Tibetan prayer flags.

This personal project comes from very improvised video recordings. A couple of them were taken experimenting with my xo35 dof adapter with one 50 mm F. 1.4 Nikon lens mounted on my 3 CCD HD consumer camera, a Panasonic HDC-HS9.
I added dirt spots compositing texture files in Final Cut and I color graded the final output footage within Final Cut itself.
Graphics were made in Illustrator and Photoshop and animated using Combustion.
Doing so I created a couple of teasers for my documentary called “CARE” and “FEED”.

“FEED” is about the way the people of Mongolia provide food from milking their mares in order to produce the fermented traditional bevarage AIRAG.

Many thanks to the mongolian band UYANGA for the soundtrack.

Thanks for watching!
