Beat Presser was born in Basel in 1952. He studied photography and cinema in Basel, Paris and New York. In the midserventies he became the editor of the magazines "Palm Beach News" and "The Village Cry". In 1981 he began a collaboration with Werner Herzog. He became assistant cameraman and still photographer on "Fitzcarraldo" and did the stills on "Cobra Verde" and "Invincible". He also played in Herzog's film on Klaus Kinski, "My dearest friend".
