Historic Beechworth has many old stone buildings. One unexpected relic is the Power Magazine, a very sturdy construction that was used to store blasting powder for local gold mining operations in the 1860s. The original structure is now 150 years old and is located away from the town in a bush setting, which makes it a popular tourist attraction.
