Crater Lake was an unplanned stop on our road trip across North America. It was suggested to us to check it out when we were out west, but our original route wasn't anywhere close it to. However, a random decision to get off of the interstate system to see some more scenic country roads, on our way south, brought us within spitting distance to Crater Lake and that meant we had to go check it out!
The first thing that you realize when you get there is just how huge it is. The second is just how blue the water is. The third thing is how steep the cliffs are and how easily someone could fall in. All the while, you can't help but appreciate the natural beauty of the lake! If you're ever in the area, my recommendation is to take an afternoon and stop by to take it in.
