OK so this is not the most scientific test ever, but it gave us a good idea of how the different Canon DSLR camera's and lenses reacted in different situations.
Having different grades of glass on each camera makes a significant change to the shot, as you can see, so we tried to use the same lens on all three cameras in the last shot.
No color grading or post treatment.
Native H.264 clips straight into Premiere CS5 dslr 24p sequence.
Rendered with Media Encoder to Quicktime H.264 Codec
Re-rendered from Quicktime to H.264 High Quality Auto Bitrate to make smaller file size for Vimeo upload.
All Clips shot at 24 fps, ISO 100, Neutral Picture Profile and Daylight white balance.
550D = Canon EFS 18-55mm f3.5 - 5.6 IS
7D = Tamron 17-50mm f2.8
5Dmkii = Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8 L
All 3 Cams = Olympus Zuiko OM 35mm f2.8
We hope this little test is helpful to video DSLR newbie's and people wanting to purchase one of these amazing cameras.
