I found a Leicina RT-1 camera at a Flea Market, a very odd looking super 8 camera originally made by Leitz, and decided to run a few test shots to see the condition. So I improvised a western short on a really really hot weekend (like 120 degree hot) with my family in Joshua Tree. You can even see the drops of sweat on one of the characters.
In a time where HD video is everywhere I thought it would be interesting to do something with Super 8, and it actually was a lot of fun! There is always something magical about film that digital can not capture. Ironically enough tho I had to end up transferring it to HD.
Film and transfer is from Pro8mm.
HD scanning is from filmtransfer.com (which I do not recommend if you want the best quality but for the purpose of the test it was alright).
Music is taken from Ennio Morricone, the Man with harmonica theme.
Thanks to all my family! I promise the next time we shoot it will not be in the desert in July!
