So who is Nadia Albano? Well she is a Stylist, Columnist, Educator, Artist and most importantly a really awesome person. We have been friends with Nadia for a while now and we have been trying to work on a project together that really reflects who she is and what she is all about. Nadia has a one of a kind personality so we really wanted to try and make a one of a kind film for her. Nadia is so fun to be around and we wanted this to come across in her video but we also wanted to show just how much she does. She has so much going on all the time, so we needed to find a way to express that energy. We felt that a great way to do this would be through a technique called Stop.
Stop Motion is a animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence. The process takes a lot of time and requires a lot of attention to detail but the creative freedom you get is limitless. For something like this it is so important to have a clear plan, with storyboards and an organized shot list. Since this is such a complicated technique you really have to have a clear vision of where you are going and how you are going to get there. It is a step by step process but you have to make sure you don’t loose sight of the big picture or the whole thing won’t work.
Once it’s complete the style that is created through this approach is really fun and quirky, just like Nadia. The process can be a bit tiring but having Nadia around to crack jokes and keep the mood fun and positive really made this a fun shoot to be a part of. See how it all came together with this really cool behind the scenes film we made on our blog at capturethemomentmedia.com. In the words of our good buddy Nadia sit back relax and enjoy a little Nadittude!
