Fred & Eric were commissioned by Comic Relief to create animations for a series of educational films for Sport Relief. The films, aimed towards primary and secondary children, highlighted how money raised by Sport Relief has been used in Africa and the UK.
Working closely with Comic Relief, we developed characters and visual styles for the graphic sections of their films. Using animation as a device to enhance the narrative, as well as providing sensitive visuals to accompany scary or painful moments in the stories.
Two different illustration styles were created for the primary and secondary different age groups. The primary style depicted the characters and settings using rich textured environments and approachable characters. Whilst more gritty, realistic graphic novel illustrations were developed for the Secondary school audience.
