The 3 Peaks course was first run in 1897 by CW Schneeberger in 09 Hrs 05 min (not counting rests), repeated by Sandy Trimble in 1927 in 07H17 (counting rests), and then again by Geoff Pitter in 1977 in 06H51.
In 1997 mountaineer Don Hartley invited 15 poeple to join him for an 'official' 3 Peaks Challenge centenary run. Don and Gavin Snell have gone on to make the race an annual event. This film covers the 2012 edition, where new records were set in both the men's (04h50) and women's (06h15) race.
