A trip through the California Redwoods, on an authentic steam locomotive called the Skunk Train. There is no documentation of how or with whom the name originated. The most popular story hold that trainmen who were familiar with steam locomotives said that the gas fumes were "like the odor of a skunk." The train travels 30 miles round-trip between Fort Bragg and Willits California. The railroad has been providing service on these tracks for over 100 years. The crew was very friendly and informative. They actually stopped the train on the return trip to let me retrieve my GoPro camera which fell off the train on the first part of the trip. The suction cup came loose and I didn't have the camera tethered with a safety line. Doh!! Even so, the camera survived with hardly a scratch. :-)
