Gecko started by questioning how smartness can be applied to a bedside lamp, that should be playful but at the same time intimate.
The aim of the project is to acquire a good understanding of the technology that we can apply beneath a simple and small object.
Touch over paper is one of the frontier of fast prototyping; it allows to recreate screen related experience in a completely analog surface. We kept in mind the complexity that intelligent appliances can have influencing spaces; our project tried to materialize feedbacks in the spectrum of different/new interactions.
An array of capacitive sensors is the bridge between the person and this lamp. We believe that this kind of touch interaction can be the future of everyday objects control.
The project was made during the Physical Computing class at Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design held by Massimo Banzi and Davide Gomba.
