Roberto Perinuzzi was a face very familiar to me. He was always in or around the Gallery, but what struck me most is that I knew very little about him. Besides that he spoke with an Italian accent flavored with Long Island annunciations the information about Roberto that I garnered was vastly nil. The morning of the film shoot I did not have breakfast and came over his house hungry. I suggested that we go out for breakfast but he had ate already. Immediately his fatherly instincts kicked in and he packed me into his little Toyota and we were off to Port Jefferson. He insisted on buying me breakfast, coffee, and absolutely anything else that I desired. Lost from such hospitable treatment I did not take full advantage of the opportunity. After eating, we began the shoot. What I learned over the next few hours about Roberto has opened my eyes to the extraordinary people that are always in or around Pedro’s Gallery 4222 that I should be paying more attention to maybe.
