Facilitated by Joshua Gaunt & Simon Ripley
Documentation of an INSET day held at Shiphay Primary in Torquay looking at ways in which print and animation can be used together. The participants used monoprint and collagraph techniques (w/out a press) and combined them with 2d stop motion techniques. Simon and I also tried out our bicycle wheel zoetrope with the teachers and there are some very interesting results here. The ability to mass-produce images using printmaking (as seen w/ the cardboard tubes) is a real benefit for working in a school setting using animation. A lot can be achieved in very little time by merely changing colour, letting a print evolve through repetition or printing out entire sequences. I look forward to trying this out more in the future.
