A study of sound and character. Silence in Arthouse films is one of the most powerful components yet its particular usage goes unnoticed. The absence of words is just as striking in tone and depth as its presence. Its used to fabricate dimensional characters through the practices of mindfulness.
In this episode I examine its purpose and what silence tries to achieve by examining Akira Kurosawa's "Dreams" (1990).
