A day in Central Park with Poet-O (Isidore Block), the park's resident poet. During the early 1980's, there was hardly a day that I didn't run into him.
This movie, filmed after several weeks of preparatory interview sessions during warm summer evenings in 1984, almost got aborted when Poet-O stopped taking his meds and decided I was trying to conduct medical experiments on him with the camera. A week later, he was properly medicated. I borrowed the 16mm equipment from NYU film school, where they mistakenly thought I was a student, and with the help of Lester Cohen and Steven Stokes, both actual NYU film students at the time, shot the movie. The day of the shoot I had a raging fever.
O was screened in the Athens International Film Festival of 1985.
