I tried to capture the essence of what a Japanese New Year feels like through my senses. It's a tranquil evening filled with the sound of crackling fires, flying cinders and dancing shadows. It's a time for families, reflection but also a time for cleansing, it's an opportunity to burn last years calenders and good luck charms and look forward into the new year.
