I was asked how to correct an issue with a clip that had been shot where the focus had been shifted from the well lit foreground object, to a background object that was underexposed.

Using Davinci Resolve, the videographer wanted to correct the focus to bring the background level up.

So, I setup this quick shot and lit the front object but not the rear object; using Resolve I then brought up the level of the background object as focus was shifted from front to back (and at the same time, darkened down the foreground object).

Camera: Canon 600D, Magic Lantern (nightly build) raw recording.
Grading: Davinci Resolve 10 Lite.
