Torrential rains and the flooding they bring seem to become more frequent all over the world. Of course we know that no individual climate event can ever be explained by a big process like climate change. But we are not talking about individual events.
The other day in Toronto, very heavy rains pounded the city for three hours or more, producing flooding of major roads and a blackout in parts of the city. Waiting (unsuccessfully) in my car for the rain to let up a bit, I realized the beautiful play of rain water streaming down the windshield with the cars and changing traffic lights.
